Our Journey

Who We Are

Muira Village Health Center, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to providing holistic healthcare and improving the quality of life for vulnerable and impoverished communities in Muira Village, Uganda, and its surrounding areas. All our services and medications are provided free of charge to our patients. We empower the community through health education, preventive care, and initiatives for community development.

When We Were Founded?

Muira Health Center opened on May 5, 2008 in Muira Village, in front of a crowd of 100 people. Since then, we’ve been working tirelessly to work with the community, and adjoining villages, to better improve quality of life and health.

From Humble Beginnings to Community Impact

“Working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the US, I witnessed significant waste—food, medications, and more. This ignited a desire to give back to my roots.

Raised in Muira Village, I hadn't realized the extent of our poverty until I moved to the US. The contrast was stark; in the US, even essentials like clean water and healthcare were taken for granted, while in Muira, these basics were scarce.

After visiting my mother and having a few heartfelt conversations with her, this eye-opening difference fueled my determination to make a change and it became my goal to open a clinic in our village. With her prayers and our hard work, we achieved this goal, opening the Muira Village Health Center in 2008.”
